Let me start off with- I am not an astrologer. I do, however, have an interest in astrology and have been studying it for several years. It’s something fun for me. So, let’s talk about the New Moon this month…
First things first.
First understand that New Moons are about new beginnings- whether we’re clarifying, setting intentions, launching, or gathering to begin a new process- it’s something new.
Another thing to note with the New Moon is that 24-48 hours before it is actually the Dark Moon – Super important. The Dark Moon is about our shadow side (what we keep hidden, or pushed aside)- it’s a time to open up to our shadows and the darkness that we hold within, so that it can be cleansed and purified. We don’t have a New Moon without a Dark Moon, so incorporating the dark side is unavoidable- things are going to come up.
Now, let’s talk about Capricorn… Capricorn is all about hard work. When they truly want something they’re focused and it can be hard for them to stop (let that project/ thing go until they are done). Family is important, and they love their family traditions (or will create new traditions to implement). A down side is that they believe “presentation is everything”. The reason this is a down side is that they can focus more on how things look to everyone else (how others perceive them) without really paying attention to their own sense of self and ignoring their own needs. Feel Capricorn. Feel.
Here is another nuance to add to the mix- Numerology. Every year there is a New Moon in Capricorn but what differentiates this one is numerology- 23° and 2021.
Let’s start at 23°- 23 is 2+3.
2 is feminine and is about joining together, union and/or communion, collaboration, duality, balance, peace, love, empathy and intuition. 2’s are not looking to be at the front, they are supportive. When 2 is out of alignment, they tend to be indecisive or indifferent (passive), sensitive (easily hurt), shy (hold back), and avoidant.
3 is about communication, artistic endeavors/ creativity, social, optimism, and inspiration. When 3 is out of alignment they tend to be shallow (materialistic), unfocused, naive, and a little irresponsible.
When you add 2+3 you get 5. And, 5 is all about need for variety and change, and being flexible and adaptable during that change, freedom, adventure, and experience. When 5 is out of alignment they can be unreliable, non-committal, arrogant, fall into boredom easily, and directionless.
In regards to the year, 2021, that’s 2+0+2+1 which equals 5.
Looking into the number 1- the first number- it is the number of creation (as all there is started with the one infinite creator), your will power, go-getter, natural leader, independent, and innovative. When 1 is out of alignment they can be forceful, doubtful, risky, and inconsiderate of others.
Final number-0. 0 is all encompassing yet having an empty cup. I once heard Dr. Wayne Dyer say that “you know a vase is a vase by the space in the opening.” 0 is the space, the essential void.
So you see with this New Moon we are getting lots of energy of the 2 and 5 with added energy of the 3, 0, and 1.
What is the New Moon in Capricorn about?
In general, I think this New Moon is about finding balance within ourselves (2) by no longer ignoring our own needs (Capricorn), extending that to others (2), and learn how to create freedom (5) in our experience of life while staying flexible and adaptable (5) as we learn this new way of being. It all starts within ourselves (1) so we can then extend it to others in the world around us (3). And being open to all possibilities while going through this new way of life (0).
Where in your life do you need to stop ignoring your own needs so that you feel more free to experience life in a more fun way? And how can you share that with the people around you?
An exercise for you
Before you start looking stuff up, try using your intuition… really meditate and contemplate on the question: “Where do I need to stop ignoring my own needs?” Journal what comes up for you, then start looking at your own birth chart to see if it matches what came up in your meditations.
Now to look things up
When you look at your birth chart, look to see what HOUSE Capricorn falls in- this is where it will affect you.
If you’re not sure what each house means, use DuckDuckGo and search “astrology houses”. Read a couple of different blogs/ websites to get an idea. Here’s the thing, you’ll have to use your intuition. When you read something and it resonates with you, note it.
When you’re reading all of that, something will stand out to you, and when it does that’s what you’ll need to pay attention to. Each house has a basic meaning with several of what I call sub-meanings. For Example, the 1st house is about the SELF, but some astrologers will mention physical attributes and others won’t. This is why it’s important that you use your intuition.
Have fun with this. And let me know Where does the New Moon fall in your chart? And what came up for you in your meditation and searches?
