How to: Creating A Vision Before Creating A Vision Board

Many people like creating vision boards for the new year (ME!!!), but what we miss sometimes is actually aligning our Inner vision with our outer vision. You all know that I LOVE going deep and getting to the heart of the matter on things so in this post I am going to share my process for creating a vision board.

First thing to know is that this is a PROCESS, not a quick “to-do”. Aligning inner vision with outer vision can sometimes take a few days to really allow the flow and guidance to come through. However, sometimes it is instant – when you know you know. So, trust in your own inner guidance to lead you.

Getting Organized and Focused to Set Goals – I use Danielle LaPorte’s Life Area list to help me focus and organize my vision (board). I pray, meditate, and contemplate over each area to see what comes up for me. I then ask introspection questions and, after sorting through it all (using discernment to determine what is from my heart and what is from my head) – I set my goals, intentions, and desired manifestations for the new year.

LIVELIHOOD + LIFESTYLE – Career. Work. Money. Home. Things. Fashion. Travel.

Introspection Questions: Do I have what I need? Do I make time to play + enjoy my life? What do I want/need more of? What do I want/need to stop doing or let go of?

BODY + WELLNESS– Fitness. Food. Rest + Relaxation. Healing. Mental Health. Sex + Sensuality.

Introspection Questions: Do I have the health + vitality I want? What do I want/need more of? What do I want/need to stop doing or let go of?

CREATIVITY + LEARNING –  Culture. Creative Expression. Education. Interests. Hobbies.

Introspection Questions: Am I fully expressed and/or living my passions? What do I want/need more of? What do I want/need to stop doing or let go of?

RELATIONSHIPS + SOCIETY – Romance. Partnerships. Friendships. Family. Children. Community. Causes.

Introspection Questions: Are my relationships cared for? What do I want/need more of? What do I want/need to stop doing or let go of?

ESSENCE + SPIRITUALITY – Soul. Inner Self. Faith. Devotional Practices.

Introspection Questions: Am I in touch with my Divine Energy? What do I want/need more of? What do I want/need to stop doing or let go of?

How Do You Want to Feel – Goals and intentions are set. Read over each of the goals, breathe them in, feel them in your body. As you really take each goal in, what feeling comes up for you? Write that down next to each goal.

Envision – Now that you are clear on what the Universe has placed in your heart, envision it. Reading over each of the goals and manifestations you want to experience in your life what do each of those look like? This is when you’ll start gathering your images for your vision board.

Put It All Together – Here is the fun part, unleash your creativity! I actually did a virtual vision board in 2020 using Canva.com. You can sign up on Canva for free and don’t need a paid subscription to create your vision board. I found most of my images on Pintrest but Canva also has a lot of free images that you can use. Once you have created your vision board Canva will even print it and mail it to you!! I paid around $7 USD for an 18”x24” poster (that was print & shipping cost!).

I’d love to know – how is this process different than what you’ve done before when creating a vision board? Or if this is your first time, please share what you initially thought about the vision board creation process vs what you now think about it.

Thank you for being here. I wish you so peace, love, and happiness! Always!
